Jobs & The Economy
I am fighting to help increase wages and job opportunities for working families. We must provide retirement security and promote equal pay for equal work by women.
As founder and president of The Lazarus Rite, inc (www.thelazarusrite.org), an academic reentry and CDL training program, this has been my primary focus for the last seven years.
Transportation
We must continue to work to reduce congestion, promote transparency, expand access to employment, boost economic development, but also understand the level of racism built into both our current transportation model as well as the conversations in regards to it.
Healthcare
Every Marylander no longer has to worry about losing access to quality care if they become sick and lose their job thanks to year round enrollment for Medicaid and MCHP and people with certain life changes. I support a woman's right to choose and legislation and a healthcare system supportive of those choices.
Civil Rights
Everyone is to be considered equal in the eyes of the law. Regardless of who you are, where you are from, what you look like or who you love. Our vote is our voice and everyone has a right to be heard.
Education
"During the 2016-2017 school year, more than half of Black students in Maryland went to school in a district that was underfunded by at least 15% compared to already outdated funding standards, while only about one in eight white students attended a school district this deeply underfunded. Jan 25, 2022"
Investments in education are investments in our future. I believe in fully funding our public education system and following the Kirwan Commission blueprint.
Gun Safety
"There are estimated to be over 400 million guns in the United States between police, the military, and American civilians. Over 393 Million (Over 98%) of those guns are in civilian hands, the equivalent of 120 firearms per 100 citizens."
Democrats support Americans' Second Amendment guaranteed rights of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. I believe that we can begin to discuss production volume in a manner that does not threaten individual rights but begins to address ever increasing access and availability.
